If you are utilizing fire in any way, we will be asking for more details related to the flames later in this questionnnare.
CAROUSEL NUMINOUS is a multifaceted, community-focused art project that interacts with the human spiritual environment to propel our sense of myth and divine mystery beyond current systems of hierarchical, mediated religious belief.

The project will require a 60 by 60 foot square on the esplande across from our theme camp (to run electricity). It consists of three 12' wide carousels that are 11-15' tall, arranged in a triangle around a 20-25' tall tower. Fire will come out of the middle tower structure.

Each carousel will consist of 4 "cars" that will be sculpted dieties (or composites of multiple dieties). Each carousel will have a 4 panel "cone" (with smaller 6" panels between each). The panels will be painted with religious icons.

There will be roof structures for each of the carousels and flame events on each. Participants will interact with it by riding the cars and setting off sound events. For a full description of the project, please see our grant LOI at http://www.violetshivers.com/John/cn/CN_loi.html

  What does your project include?
(Please check all that apply.)
  Scaffolding
Structures over 15 feet high
Holes dug in the playa
9. Are there any aspects or components to your installation or project which could possibly interfere with other nearby art, such as bright lights; or are you in need of a quieter area?
  yes no
  If yes, please describe:
10.* How will your project be illuminated at night? Reflectors / Blinking lights?
xmas lights, fire, other lights, it will not be super bright
11. Project Foot Print: Estimate the approximate space your project will need (in sq. feet):
70' x 70'

A diagram, drawing, or plan for each project, which can be as simple or complex as you need it to be, must be sent to us within 2 weeks of submitting this form. The diagram is the complement to the description of your project. This helps the Art Team to understand fully what you are wanting to create this year. This information is essential for starting a dialogue.

Please submit diagrams and/or drawings in one of the following ways:

19.* Whether you plan to burn your project or not, please describe your plan IN DETAIL to Leave No Trace whatsoever of your project(s) - including burn scars:
Cleanup and Emergency Remediation Carousel Numinous has a negligible environmental impact. There will be no open fires burning on the playa. Camp members will conduct daily sweeps of the surrounding region to ensure loose materials are not blown to the horizon. Paints, glues, and art-making materials will be selected for minimal environmental impact. There will be four holes augured into the playa. These holes will be no more than 6 inches in diameter and they will be filled and packed when the project is uninstalled. The installation will not be burned, but will be disassembled for return to San Francisco for "Life Beyond the Playa."

Camp Numinous has several emergency-aware Burning Man veterans who will be responsible for monitoring the structures for mechanical integrity. Safety checks will be performed throughout the event. We will also provide fire extinguishers in the slim chance of a fire. No propane tanks over 75 lbs will be used for the fire events. We will also monitor the safety of any participants at all times and have a contingency emergency plan that includes knowing locations of the nearest medical facilities in Black Rock City.
