Meeting Notes February | Meeting Notes March

Hola Numies!

)^( Camp Numinous

Meeting Notes: May 31

Excellent Meeting yesterday! Thank you all for coming. After the meeting we hung out and discussed the camp and some of us went to sushi. It was actually sunny in the sunset for most of the time.

The following people attended:
John, Jenny, Shane, Julia, Tim, Susan, Shekky, Kevin, Jen, Cheryl, Chris, Sheryl, Barb, Buf, Chip, Seth via email.

Those people, plus Fir and hopefully Judy are camping with Carousel Numinous this year.

AGENDA
1. Carousel progress
2. Deadlines and work days
3. Camp Infrastructure - committees
4. Events and Fundraising ideas
5. Finances
6. Vogon 42 and other possible ways of collaborating with others (at Sushi)

Seth's email was read. His original figure for all the plumbing was amended. He's working on our utilities! We hope to see him down here soon!

CAROUSEL PROGRESS

- the first mast is setup in the backyard at the Bird's nest. We all wondered at how cool it is and we all checked out Jenny's amazing panels. She has 8 panels in progress. Chip documented the mast raising and the panels as he has for the last couple weeks. He also got footage of Shane discussing the carousel.

- We still need to attach the spokes and roof, but 1/2 of the roof is ready. We also need to finish the first panel frame.

- Tim got all the cable we need for FREE

- Shane will build the second carousel at his house, Tim will build the third carousel at his house.

- A lot of progress has been completed by the art project crew. We've worked every weekend for the last month. Jenny has been painting for the last 3 weeks. We're moving along nicely.

-This week john can start on the remote control of the tower, electrical switching and cars

- John and Kevin will work on the car undercarrage this week and Shane will come over Tuesday to finish the spokes and roof for Carousel #1.

- John, Jenny and our friend James will begin working on the car decoration this week.

- John and Tim will pickup the Fire Cannon next weekend. There was discussion of adding a kerosene mixture to the flame so we get a 15 foot flame burst

- Tim presented his plan for the Tower structure and it rocks. A picture will be posted to the web site soon. Tim is our Tower Guy. The Tower of Tim!

- Chris, Chip and John are working on sound ideas and we got some great feedback from another Art Project builder of Voices of Fire.

DEADLINES

- All 3 carousels will be complete structurally, by the end of June. This will give us enough time at the Bird's Nest to complete the wood, decoration roof and deck structure. There WILL BE A WORK DAY IN JUNE to complete this when it is ready.

- Jenny needs the last four panels NEXT WEEKEND

CAMP INFRASTRUCTURE

- Everyone will need to help load the truck on August 19th. Each person who is responsible for a camp structure will have to co-ordinate everyone getting their stuff to the Bird's Nest that week. Shekky, John and Shane will figure out how to load the truck since Seth isn't here. ;-) The women want to watch the process for a good laugh.

- Kitchen, what we need for the Kitchen was discussed, the kitchen team is Julia, Susan, Shekky, Sheryl, Barb and Jen. (and Seth as far as the gray water is concerned). Shekky will handle getting a new ice wagon.

- Bar, The bar design was changed a little. Blueprint to the web site this week. Bar building can begin in July it was decided and there will be a couple WORK DAYS in July for people to come help put it together. ALL of our energy needs to go into the Project Right Now.

- Date when people will be arriving were gathered. Looks like we've got a great critical mass for the first weekend Project and Camp construction this year.

arrival dates are:
John, Jenny, Shane, Julia - August 20th
Tim and Susan, Kevin, Shekky August 22-23

EVENTS AND FUNDRAISING

- The Camp would like between 3000 and 5000 $ for structures and truck rental ($1600). We currently have 220$ in the PASS account.

- We currently have 2 fund raising ideas in the works.

- Jenny and Susan discussed their idea of the pledges to raise money Everyone needs to bring in $250 for the camp and they can either just pay it or use the Gris Gris pledges. They will send out an email explaining the whole process, basically a person pledges 25 - ? $ to be part of our camp. They will get a piece of art for their money and the art will be integral to the project. The concept of energy transference and the metaphor of the Carousel are incorporated into the art that pledgers will receive. This will make it easy for people to cover the camp fee and it will make our benefactors feel like they are part of our art project this year.

- Jen discussed the Tacky Prom Party which she wants to hold on Friday the 13th in Berkeley. She got a FREE place to hold it. She also has a DJ and she is looking at bands. Sheryl, Barb, and Buf are interested in helping her put it on. She will need people to work the door and help with setting up and tearing down after the party, and to help with distributing flyers. Jen will contact the Prom people and organize this event.

FINANCES

The budget was passed around as was the Art Project Expenditures.

Afterwards some people hung out and we discussed the camp and the wonders of Burning Man. Thank you to the new people who showed up, we're looking forward to having you camp with us. Also thanks to everyone who brought T-Shirts and thanks Sheryl and Barb for the religious books!

After that A group of us went to Sushi on Taraval and had way too much sushi and discussed fire project and the Vogon camp.

We are in FULL GEAR and we're going to have a Fantastic Project his year!

-John
